Machinery Supply’s humble beginnings start in July 2010 with one man and a pickup truck. Brian McAdam, founder and current President of Machinery Supply, set out to create a service business in an industry that lacked dependable and reliable support from equipment manufacturers in Western Canada. Brian believed that only the best, field-proven equipment solutions would satisfy the demands of the aggregate production industry.
It wasn’t long before Brian earned the trust of his customers and expanded his operations by assembling a team of dedicated product salesmen and skilled service technicians, all of whom had extensive experience in the aggregate industry. Over the past decade, Machinery Supply has experienced sustained growth and has become one of the top aggregate equipment and parts suppliers in Western Canada.
In February 2020, Machinery Supply became a member of the Power Equipment Company family. Based in Denver, Colorado, Power Equipment Company is the authorized dealer for Superior Industries and many other quality aggregate equipment manufacturers in the U.S. Rocky Mountain region. The relationship between the two companies was first established in 2010, as Machinery Supply procured equipment and parts from Power Equipment Company. The acquisition further solidifies their partnership and enhances the product and service offerings to aggregate customers in Western Canada.
Joining forces with Power Equipment Company gives us the opportunity to continue to grow; and integrating our product lines, equipment inventories and experience makes our whole team stronger.
We’re always looking to add new members to our team. Visit our Careers page to view current openings and submit your application.
The “Road” icon in the Machinery Supply logo pays homage to a prior company Brian formed called “McAdam Road Specialties”. He started out selling belt scales, loader scales, and metal detectors…all of which no other company in Western Canada’s aggregate industry wanted to bother with at the time.
If you look up what a “McAdam Road” is on the internet, you will find that it’s one of the first types of modern road construction and considered state-of-the-art for its time. Single-sized crushed stone layers of small angular stones are placed in shallow lifts and compacted thoroughly. A binding layer of stone dust (crushed stone from the original material) may form; it may also, after rolling, be covered with a binder to keep dust and stones together.
John Loudon McAdam, who is one of Brian McAdam’s distant relatives, pioneered this technique in 1820. This “McAdam Road” became known as “macadamized road”, which is known as asphalt today.
